Head and neck tumors

Tumors in the head and neck area – including tongue, throat, larynx, paranasal sinus and salivary gland cancer – are among the more complex cancers. Thanks to precise diagnostics, modern surgical procedures, targeted system therapies and innovative radiation techniques, many individually combinable treatment options are available today.

Individual therapy concepts for head and neck tumors

At the Vienna Private Clinic, every patient with head or neck tumors receives individual and interdisciplinary care. Diagnostics include state-of-the-art imaging (CT, MRI, PETCT), endoscopic procedures and – if necessary – molecular analysis of the tumor tissue.
In the early stages, tumors can often be surgically removed, if necessary combined with a neck dissection (removal of cervical lymph nodes).

For advanced cases, we use multimodal therapy concepts in which surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy and, if necessary, antibody therapies are combined in a targeted manner.
The treatment decision is always made in an interdisciplinary tumor board with experts from ENT surgery, oncology, radiology, radiotherapy and pathology – with the aim of finding the most effective and gentle treatment.

“Head and neck tumors require a close look: Every patient has a different initial situation. Only when we optimally combine diagnostics, surgical techniques and complementary therapies can we achieve the best cure rates – and preserve speech, swallowing function and quality of life.”
